Be prepared to work hard, have fun, and be emotionally and artistically inspired by Stella Canfield!
Stella’s art is known for its deep emotional content, dynamic brush strokes, and vivacious colors. She creates intuitively and spontaneously in a relaxed, natural way of expressing her individual emotional response to the subject or scene she paints. Her work is charged with the energy of her own life, as well as her passion for people and nature. Stella introduces symbols in her work, giving viewers the opportunity to visualize the details and emotionally involve viewers as partners, to give them a feeling of ownership of her work. Stella believes that art is way of spiritual communication, and infuses her students' work with energy and life.
Stella will discuss elements of design, value, and color choices with the class through daily demonstrations. Students will spend the majority of each day working on exercises in floral, landscape and city scene subjects, while receiving continuous one-on-one attention from Stella. Students are encouraged to bring their own reference photos.
